Class Sizes 

Class sizes vary 4-6 children depending on pool and location. Please ask our office team of numbers in your class. 

 

Course Length 

Lessons run in 10-week blocks.

Enrolments 

Enrolments for the next term will be completed by week 9 of the current course. Customers will receive a text message including the dates of the new course and how they can re-enrol into their existing space. Any customers that haven’t enrolled by week 9 will receive a non-enrolment text message to confirm they haven’t enrolled. At this point you are welcome to contact us ASAP to confirm your space.  

 

Courses are paid for termly in advance of the course start date. We will issue you dates via SMS text message prior to the term ending to inform you of the next term dates and prices. If you wish to be certain of a place for the following term, you will need to enrol no later than week 9 of the current course. All dates are visible on your Water Stars App

Enrolments can be paid over the phone to our office team, via internet banking or using the Water Stars App

Awards 

Awards are collected on poolside on week 10. Week 10 of the course is ‘Fun’ week. The lesson consists of 15min swimming lesson, and the children get to play games etc to celebrate the last week of the course and gaining a certificate.

Swimfins / Aquaplanes 

These aids are used within lessons to allow children to learn the strokes correctly from as younger age as possible. The idea is the swimming aid supports the child in the correct position and allows early focus on breathing, leg kick and arm over arm action. Swimming is a technical activity, and we pride ourselves on learning the best technique possible.  

 

Swimfins (£25) can be purchased from Water Stars. Please call 07392 342813 and we can update you on availability/colours in stock etc. These are great swimming aids to support our lessons when you go within you own leisure swims.

Instructor  

Our instructors teach from within the water in order to support children and have an opportunity when appropriate to step in and correct children within the water. Once children are swimming confidently unaided, they enter a class where the instructor teaches from the side.

Individual Lesson 

A lesson lasts 30 mins. The lessons will be broken down into a 5 min warm up, 20 min swimming lesson and 5 min contrasting activity.  

 

Client information 

Upon registration, you will be required to inform us of all your details including your name, telephone number and any medical conditions we need to be aware of. Water Stars Swimming School will ensure this information is always kept confidential. The only reason we will contact you is: SMS for enrolment information

Communication  

All communication is via SMS text message. It is your responsibility to ensure you keep us updated with your latest mobile telephone number to enable us to keep you up to date with important information and course dates.

Refunds & Cancellations  

Refunds for non-attendance due to illness or holidays will not be given. Water Stars is under no obligation to provide an alternative solution if you miss any classes on the dates you have committed to on the course. 

​

Once booed onto a course this is your space until the course dates are completed. We do not offer refunds for cancelled lessons. 

​

Lessons cancelled by Water Stars Swimming School will be fully refunded or deducted from the next term fees. Water Stars Swimming School reserves the right to change or cancel a course at any time.  Arrangements will be made to re-schedule where possible if not refunds will be payable.  

 

Swimming Instructors  

All instructors are qualified and experienced swimming teachers and hold the relevant ASA or STA certificate(s) and we ensure we have carried out the relevant DBS  

(Disclosure Barring Service) checks necessary.

Pool Safety  

In the event of an emergency, the person in charge will blow a single long blast on a whistle. All swimmers and spectators will immediately stop what they are doing and wait quietly for further instructions. Should it be necessary to evacuate the building, no attempt should be made to recover possessions from the changing rooms or  

anywhere else in the building.

Valuables  

Water Stars Swimming School will not accept liability for the loss of or damage to any personal effects brought to any session and you are therefore requested to ensure that no valuable items are brought to the swimming lessons. Water Stars Swimming School does not accept responsibility for any damage or loss of property or articles left at premises.

Parents and Swimmers  

Each pool has its own set of rules. There must be no food or drink in any of the pool facilities.  Swimmers, siblings, parents, and guardians are expected to observe the club’s no smoking policy. Be realistic about your child’s abilities and do not over-expect.  

 

As some physical contact with your child is unavoidable all staff adheres to ASA Child Protection Procedures. All Instructors are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.  

  

Parents should remain on the premises while children are completing swimming lessons. It is important in case of any emergency. Water Stars Swimming School responsibility for your child starts at the commencement of the lesson and finishes when the lesson is over. Parents are responsible for their children at all other times.  

Always supervise your children when changing in amenities and leaving the premises.

Behaviour  

In the event of a swimmer, parent, guardian, sibling or other associate refusing to obey an instruction from a member of staff, behaving in an unruly manner towards a member of staff or any other person, or causing damage to pool premises or any of the furniture fixtures or equipment in those premises, the swimmer shall not be permitted to continue with the lessons.
