Lessons

Water Stars offers a selection of high quality swimming lessons designed specifically to match the age and ability of the child.

Instructors teach from within the water to provide additional support aid technique and improve confidence. All of our instructors are DBS checked and hold a Level 2 ASA or are STA qualified. They also hold a valid safety award qualification.

Each swimming lesson is 30 minutes long and lessons run in 10 week blocks. At the end of each block you will receive a feedback report on your child.

Please note that the ages below are given as a guide only.

Water Tots

Beginners

Aged 3 months - 3 years

Water tots swimming lessons are for babies and toddlers aged between 3 months and 3 years.

They are designed to introduce youngsters to the water so that they are comfortable and happy when taking part in water activities. The lessons are designed to be fun and enjoyable.

Mini Stars

Beginners

Mini Stars swimming lessons are designed especially for beginners between the ages of 3 and 5 years.

The aim of these lessons is to gain independence and confidence in the water.

At the end of this stage a child is able to travel independently on their front and back, able to submerge their face in the water confidently, perform floatations in the water, follow instructions and be safe in the water and on poolside.

Little Stars

Intermediate

Little Stars swimming lessons are ideal for children aged between 4 and 6 years who are of an intermediate swimming level.

The focus is on kicking correctly during float work on both front and back, linking kicking to breathing and early arm practices.

At the end of this stage of awards we will have a child kicking from their hips, able to produce over arm recovery on both front crawl and backstroke whilst using aids and confident in early breaststroke kick.

Water Stars

Experienced

Water stars swimming lessons are for the more experienced young swimmer, aged between 7 and 9 years.

This award section focuses upon stroke development with confidence and consistency which is required in all 4 strokes.

Personal survival and diving is also covered within these awards, along with an introduction to starts and turns.

At the end of these awards, each swimmer will have strong swimming strokes and the ability to swim for longer distances.

Bronze, Silver & Gold Medals

Experienced

Upon completion of the Water Stars swimming lessons, we offer Bronze, Silver & Gold Medals.

Within the award section we focus on building stamina whilst still ensuring a high level of control and technique. These advanced swimmers will be able to achieve distance awards swimming competitive strokes.

Due to the experience and age of the swimmers, the lessons have more a coaching feel to them.

All awards are in line with National Swimming awards with the ASA.
